23.07.2019, 24.07.2019, 25.07.2019 VES Sports: The much awaited VES Inter School Sports Meet commenced with invocation with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. Shri. K. E. Srinivasan- Hon. Correspondent of SKNS PMC Vivekananda Vidyalaya welcomed the esteemed gathering and emphasized on the importance of Sports in a child's life. In the Inaugural function the Chief guests. Dr. C. Shylender Babu IPS., M.Sc., DGL., MBA., Ph.D and Kum. Kaaruniya Muthuramalingam, South Asian Medalist-Discus Throw, Shri. T. Chakravarthy- Vice President VES & President- Vidya Bharathi Dakshin Kshetra Tamil Nadu and Kerala took the salute of the impressive March Past of the students coupled with some stirring marching music by the band. Dr. C. Shylender Babu inaugurated and declared Sports Meet Open. In his address, he appreciated the children and Vivekananda Educational Society. He said, if a person wishes, he can render his time, talent and treasure for social welfare. He insisted the students to pursue all their talents apart from academics as it might help them in their future. Kum. Karuniya Muthuramalingam in her motivational speech said “Never give up until you achieve your dreams. Dream big and go far as long as you can”. The Olympic Torch was lit by Kum. Karuniya Muthuramalingam. The Torch Bearers of VES Sri. M. N. Venkatesan –Secretary, Sri. L. Ramamoorthy- Joint Secretary, Sri. R. Ravindran- Joint Secretary, Sri. Shravan Kumar Todi- Treasurer adorned the dais.
Sri. Veerachamy- Academic Director VIERT, Sri. Jagadalaprathaban- Shareerik Co-ordinator, VES Education Officers Sri. K. Ponraman, Smt. Prema Mahadevan, Smt. Anuradha and Smt. Sethubai, all Units Principals and Vice Principals graced the occasion. The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Sports Captain D. Kaarthikeyan of class X from Perambur Unit. An energizing display set the tone for the rest of the event. The students displayed varieties of energetic cultural performance mesmerized the audience. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. Students of classes 3 to 12 competed in events including cross country, relays, track event and field event. Fun time with a staff relay, shot put, long jump, 100 meters dash and target throw between the VES units added to the enjoyment. The Best march past trophy and the overall champion trophy was awarded to Mathur Unit and second prize was bagged by Vyasarpadi Unit. Totally 22 units of Vivekananda Educational Society participated in Inter School Sports Meet, in which, more than 10,000 students participated in various events like athletics, swimming, yoga, silambam, mallakhamb, kho kho, kabaddi, throw ball, volleyball, football etc. 2000 students were shortlisted for the finals. 156 athletic events and 120 games were held for the students. 3520 prizes were given to students. A student was allowed to participate in any four events and based on that individual championship was awarded in each category.Around 500 teachers participated in various games and athletic events.134 prizes were awarded as a mark of appreciation.
